To celebrate Maori Language week we spent the afternoon weaving and making a head band. We invited some tuakana from the senior school to help us weave a flax flower and also complete a head band made of cardboard. We looked at repeating Maori patterns and used these designs on our head bands.
The senior students were really helpful, kind and caring with us. They are great examples of Tall Learners and we hope that they come back again. A special thankyou goes to Rosie, Mrs Leonard's oldest daughter who came to teach us all how to weave.
Tena koutou katoa - welcome to Room 4's blog. We hope that you, your friends and family enjoy sharing our work and keeping up to date with what's happening in Room 4. Please leave a comment to encourage our wonderful children. It will help to give a real purpose for their learning - in particular to their reading and writing as they read and respond to your posts.

Jelly Day
Today we had lots of fun making jelly! Next week we will make a shared book about the process of making jelly and use it as motivation for writing explanations.
